Primary Election moves to June 9th

Due to the extension of the Public Health Emergency, the Presidential Preference and General Primary has been moved from May 19th to June 9th, 2020.

How was that date selected? The Secretary of state has that information here:

If you have already mailed in your application for an Absentee Ballot, you can simply mail the completed ballot and vote for your preferred candidates in the primary races. If you prefer to vote in person, you may still do so even if you have already received your mail-in ballot. Instead of returning your mail-in ballot, just take it with you to the polls.

For the most accurate and current information, please go to the Forsyth County Elections Office website.

As of today, the important dates are:

  • Voter Registration Deadline: May 11, 2020 (please confirm you are registered by visiting this site:
  • Early in-person voting: Weekdays May 18-June 5
Saturday: May 30 (Locations and Hours vary by date)

There is something else you can do. Running an election cannot happen without enough people working the polls. You will receive the training you need and can help secure our elections. Consider being a poll worker.

Make sure your voice is heard. Please vote.
