Unemployment Benefits for Reduced Hours/Temporary Layoff

Are you a small business owner? Have you reduced your employees’ hours or temporarily laid them off as a result of COVID-19 pandemic? If you, the employer, will complete the multi-claim form for your employees, make it retroactive to the date you reduced their hours or temporarily laid them off, you will not have an increase in your unemployment insurance rate. Please note this:

Employers are required to file partial claims on behalf of their employees whenever it is necessary to temporarily reduce work hours or there is no work available for a short period. Any employer found to be in violation of this rule will be required to reimburse GDOL for the full amount of unemployment insurance benefits paid to the employee.

Please visit the Georgia Department of Labor website. https://dol.georgia.gov/ There you will find tutorials for filing these claims for your employees and other important information.

Additionally, The Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce has a lot of valuable information to assist small business owners. Please visit: Together4FoCo.com for more information.
